The 31st chapter of the book of Proverbs describes a biblical figure who is generally referred to as “The Proverbs 31 Woman.” She's praised for her wisdom, hard work, diligence, and devotion to God. The verses highlight her character and actions, making her a model of virtue and a woman to be admired.

The Proverbs 31 woman we see in Proverbs 31:10-31 is a mother, wife, entrepreneur, and more. But these titles do not make up the sum value of who she is as a woman, and in the same way a woman’s value is rooted in much more than what she does or what people call her.

Even though the Proverbs 31 woman appear to be defined by what she does and the titles she holds, it's more important to take a deeper look into the character of who she is as a woman to truly be encouraged by her example. As a woman, you may feel like the standard that is set in this chapter is unattainable; but be encouraged today to know that if God gave us this example, then by God’s grace, word and Spirit each woman should believe that it is possible and aim to become like a Proverbs 31 woman.

1. Devotion to God:

The Proverbs 31 woman's devotion to God is the foundation of her other virtues and works. She fears the Lord and recognizes His provision and love. She displays humility and grace.

2. Dignity:

She is a woman of dignity. Not only is she worthy of praise, but she knows her value. It’s important for a woman to know her worth and the value she adds to her home, community and world.

3. Wisdom and Skill:

She is described as speaking with wisdom and having a faithful instruction on her tongue. She is also skillful in managing her household and works diligently.

4. Diligence and Hard Work:

She is a woman of diligence. She is a hard worker, but don’t confuse her diligence with busyness. Her work is not only fruitful, but it also makes her stronger.

5. Generosity and Kindness:

She is a woman of generosity. With all that she has worked for and acquired; she freely gives to the poor. She truly is blessed to be a blessing intentionally seeking to help others.

6. Trustworthiness and Stability:

Her husband trusts in her, and she brings him only good. She is a stable and reliable presence in his life. She is a woman of patience, and she displays willingness to patiently make the best decisions.

7. Courage:

She is a woman of courage. She knows what she can control and courageously trusts God with what she cannot. She can laugh at the days to come because she is encouraged in the truth that God has ordered her steps. Because she trusts God with tomorrow, she can have peace for today.
